To be married in North Carolina, you must get your marriage license at any County Register of Deeds Office in North Carolina. The license is good in all other counties of the state. The Buncombe County Courthouse, Register of Deeds office, in Asheville, NC is the most convenient for couples being married in the Asheville area. The cost is $60.00. You must bring picture ID and your Social Security Cards, and if under the age of 21, certified copies of your Birth Certificates. The license is good for 60 days. There is no waiting period, or any other requirements. You both do have to get it in person, not by mail. While there, you may fill out a form, and for $10.00 they will later mail you a certified copy of the license after its final processing. They are closed on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
